Market Rentals

Looking for a rental home? Market rentals give you choice and flexibility.

What are market rentals?

Market rental units are homes offered at the current market rate, without income-based subsidies. Private landlords or non-profit housing providers typically own these units, and they are available to anyone who can afford the rent.

Market rent is set by the landlord under Ontario’s Residential Tenancies Act, and tenants typically need proof of income, a credit check, and rental references. Additional costs, such as utilities, parking, and insurance, may apply.

Why choose market rentals?

  • Immediate availability: no long waitlists like rent-geared-to-income housing
  • Variety of options: apartments, townhouses, and single-family homes
  • Flexibility: choose the location and type of home that fits your lifestyle
